Description
The purpose of any stop switch is to turn on the brake lights located at the rear of the vehicle
These lights warn the driver of the car traveling behind, that the vehicle in front is braking and we may be in a situation of danger.
They can be grouped into the following:
- Mechanical stop switches
- Hydraulic stop switches
- Pneumatic stop switches

Cause of failure
Body, connector and cables should be checked ensuring its proper condition.
Check the switch for cracks, dents or blow that could have damaged it.
Keep in mind that, as a general rule, a visual inspection is not enough to ensure the smooth running of the piece, but it helps to make an initial diagnosis.
- Cracks or breaks. Tensions caused by mechanical stress
- Deformation and dents. Switch overheating
- Malfunction. Bad fitting to the brake pedal
- No Signal. Cable break by friction or excessive vibration, short-circuit, internal cracks of the switch caused by mechanical or thermal stress
